In my last indie dyers post, I gushed over my beautiful blue “Just another manic mermaid” skein from Less Traveled Yarn Company What I may have failed to mention in detail was what else came in the package:
Welcome to my stash, Aubergine!!!
When you order hand-dyed yarns, usually the colour combination is available on a variety of yarn bases, which you choose when you order. I was so hypnotised by this beautiful concoction that I forgot to select sock yarn base, and I ended up with an oh-so-squishy Double Knit. I’m guessing socks are probably out of the question with only 100g of DK, so what else shall I make with it?
Enter Opportunity! I offered to pattern test another of Unravel and Unwind‘s patterns; this time, archery gauntlets. For non-archers, the name Fingerless Gloves probably does the trick!
I can’t explain how lovely it is working with indie yarn. The colours are so lovely and it’s a dream to watch them change as you work. I love the little touches of this and that as they magically appear. That’s why to me it is so worth the extra money.
Hands up if you’re toasty.
I love my new fingerless gloves, archer’s gauntlets, wrist warmers, and whatever else you would be able to call them. This pattern is available on Ravelry, LoveCrafts and Unravel & Unwind. If you make them, be sure to let me or Faye know! I’d love to see what colours you choose.
